Sealants

Sealants are used to fill in narrow grooves in a tooth that cannot be adequately cleaned by brushing. This simple procedure is usually reserved for children and teenagers who have their permanent molars. Regardless of brushing habits, rougher tooth structures may still accumulate plaque in fine grooves or pits that are too narrow to allow even one bristle in. These will often develop cavities over time. As part of preventive care, Dr. Butterfield can place a coating that seals the grooves and pits, making it possible to brush off all the plaque and keeping your teeth clean and healthy.
